Ears to the Skies Episode Three

Posted by: admin

Posted in: Episodes

Well, lookey lookey, we’ve found a new home. We’re still working on some bits and bobs, so watch this space ladies and gentlemen.

Anyway, we’ve got another podcast treat for you this week which you can download - HERE, featuring another collection of reviews from Lee and Mike, and of course the now legendary Jacob William’s with his classical album of the week, with a little difference this time round.

We also offer you the basement dweller himself, Paul Banica, who reports from deepest Romania with another Antisocial Music Section, guaranteed to scare you senseless and stop you from getting any sleep tonight. We’re sorry!

This week’s mass debate (we know, we know, the joke is already wearing thin!) looks at the smoking hot issue of music piracy, and whether it’s set to demolish the music industry as we know it, or just another natural evolution that see’s some dinosaurs being laid to rest.

Finally, once again we bring you another interview with a band on the cutting edge of the UK music scene. This time round Lee went and hunted down Hadouken!, who’s nu-rave pop selections have been gracing the radio waves all the more often as of late, and are surely a band set for a big year.

So, we hope you enjoy this weeks offering. If you have any comments or suggestions, feel free to email us at earstotheskies(at)googlemail.com or leave a comment on this here blog.

The episode will be available for streaming within the next few days.

Thanks again, and we’ll be back next week with another selection of musical joy to bring to your ears.

Until then, keep those ears to the skies.

Mike and Lee.

Ears to the Skies Episode Two

Posted by: earstotheskies

Posted in: Episodes

You can listen to the second episode in your browser window just by clicking the play icon at the bottom of the post. Alternatively, you can download the new episode.

We have a pretty meaty lineup for this week’s episode of Ears to the Skies, which includes reviews of new albums from The Sword, The Courteeners, The Kooks and the only person without a fashionable ‘The’ in front of his name, Frank Turner.

We also have another look back at a classic album from years gone by with our gentleman friend Jacob Williams, whose soothing voice will send you into a comatose state.

We’re also introducing a new personality onto the show - Romanian gypsy lover Paul Banica, whose section ‘Paul’s Antisocial Music Section’ will be guaranteed to wake you up from aforementioned coma.

This week’s Mass Debate has us looking at the issue of musicians behaviour - are they setting a bad example to younger audiences, and should they learn how to behave? Or are they entitled to a bit of leeway given the amount of pressure they come under?

We also have an interview with This Will Destroy You, taken just after they performed in support of Devil Sold His Soul, and lulled the crowd into a dreamworld of sweeping, melodic compositions from their new self titled.

As always, we hope you enjoy the show and if you’d like to get in contact with us you can leave a comment on the blog, or email us at earstotheskies(at)googlemail.com.

Muchos Lovos,

The Ears to the Skies Team.

Ears to the Skies Episode One

Posted by: earstotheskies

Posted in: Episodes

We’re proud to present the first episode of Ears to the Skies. In this week’s show, we have four album reviews, and a special feature from our friend Jacob Williams, who takes a look at a classic album from years gone by.

You can now listen to the episode right here in your browser window just by clicking on the play icon at the end of the post. If you’d prefer, you can also download the episode.

This week’s mass debate focuses around the music festival, asking whether there are too many, whether they are too expensive and whether the quality of music festivals is gradually sinking to a weekend of debauchery you wouldn’t be too hard pressed to find in a lawless world.

Finally, we sat down with burgeoning punk folk artist Frank Turner, who spoke to us about his new album ‘Love, Ire and Song’, his previous band ‘Million Dead’ and the trials and tribulations of being a solo artist on tour.

We hope you enjoy the show, and despite some technical niggles we thoroughly enjoyed putting it together. Remember to get in touch if you have something to say to us! We can be reached by email at earstotheskies(at)googlemail.com.

Thanks,

The Ears to the Skies Team

Hello.

Hi there,

Ears to the Skies is a new weekly show dedicated to providing the listener with a fresh take on the music world, as opposed to the stale and biased journalism that has become the standard in the United Kingdom.

The show is completely independently produced, so you can expect honest opinions on new music releases, and issues within the music industry.

Both hosts are passionate music listeners, almost to the point of geekery, and are always searching for new bands and artists to sink their earbuds into.

Michael Copus enjoys music from all walks of life, from bone crushing metal such as Pig Destroyer and ISIS to the lighter side of the spectrum such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor and a guilty pleasure for electronic music, most notably Amon Tobin.

Lee Smart is a self confessed indie lover, with an unhealthy obsession with The Enemy (he owns almost every item of memorabilia the band have released). He also enjoys other treats such as Hard Fi, Arctic Monkeys and Biffy Clyro. Unfortunately, there was a time when Lee had affections for rap artists such as 50 Cent, and suspicions are that he still secretly enjoys a bit of gangsta rhyme.

Between the two of them you can expect a vast array of music to be covered. We hope you enjoy the show, and encourage you to get in touch with us if you have any recommendations, questions, demos or ideas by emailing us at earstotheskiesATgooglemail.com.

Thanks for listening.

Mike and Lee
